Laughing to Keep from Crying

Passion is really a beautiful thing.

Not like, sexual passion (although that’s worth noting too), but just seeing somebody talk about something they really feel strongly about. I love seeing that.

And you just know when someone’s passionate about something, even if they don’t really realize it themselves. Discussing a subject someone is passionate about, you can see them almost lose themselves in their thoughts, mentally and emotionally firing on all cylinders when they talk, and you know it’s not just a fad for them. You know it’s not a phase. You know, because you can see it right in front of you, and it’s beautiful. It’s like looking at your favorite painting, or hearing your favorite song. There’s a connection there. It’s like watching someone fall in love.

I feel like I’ve never really been passionate about anything before until this foreign language thing clicked for me. I feel passionate about something for the first time in my life. I feel like I’m finally experiencing what I’ve been seeing in other people for years, and for once I feel really…good.
